Shallow supers can come with either rabbet or finger joints. They have 5/8" frame rests. The uppercut handles are deep profiled, allowing the water to run off and providing an easy grip. Shallow supers are 5 11/16" deep and are typically used by beekeepers who want lighter equipment or are interested in harvesting cut-comb honey.
Finger joints are singaly hand-placed and precision-cut to make a very deliberate tight fit. When properly assembled, these corners are as rot resistant as finger joints can be. Rabbeted joints do not take as much time to produce, nor do they require specialized equipment. Therefore, we offer them for about $.50 cheaper than finger joints.
